Topic: Purple-Roof Concept

Through a restrictive drainage layer, the (non-proprietary) Purple-Roof Concept achieves retention and detention on rooftop space. Under pedestal pavers, stone ballast or green roof areas, the friction-based drainage layer slows the flow of water as it leaves the roof, delaying the peak outflow rate of the design storm. An outflow rate is engineered by designing the relevant green roof components to ensure all stormwater parameters/requirements are met. With rooftop space comprising 40% of urban areas, maximizing such areas allow one to efficiently manage stormwater at its highest point- the roof!
