MAFSM’s 9th Annual Conference
Our day-long conference features keynote speaker D. Lee Currey, P.E., Director of Science Services Administration for the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), guest speakers, a floodplain simulator demonstration, our annual business meeting, and presenters discussing current stormwater, floodplain, and mitigation issues. This event is attended by over a hundred local engineers, planners, surveyors, GIS and other technical professionals. Attendance earns 6 CECs for CFMs.Don’t miss it! (Cost to attend $120)

Pre and Post conference activities will include:
A CFM Refresher training on Wednesday, October 16 from 9:00-4:00 hosted at Michael Baker Jr., Inc. office at 1304 Concourse Drive, Suite 200 Linthicum, MD 21090. Attendance earns 6 CECs for CFMs.(Cost to attend $20.)
A Field tour of the Carroll Creek Flood Control System – City of Frederick, MD on Friday, October 18 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Attendance earns 2 CECs for CFMs.
This will include a guided tour by staff from the City of Frederick where we will look at the system, learn about the history of flooding in Frederick, how the project came together, challenges, and other facts. The tour will conclude with lunch. Location information: Park at Husky Park, 835 Highland St. (Google Maps, Coordinates 39.414791,-77.395227) Then there is a 500ft walk on gravel road to conduit entrance. Also, Attendees will need to bring boots to walk through 3”-6” of water. If you do not have boots, please contact Tom Hay at thay@straughanenvironmental.com with your boot size. We may be able to provide boots. (Cost to attend $20.)
A CFM exam will be conducted Friday, October 18 at the Michael Baker offices in Linthicum, MD. (See Floods.org for cost.)
